Youth Art Contest

This year’s theme is “Self Portrait”. This being a tough (and very different year), we wanted to give children an outlet to express their emotions and how they are feeling during all of this turmoil and unrest. “Self-Portrait” also speaks of identity, which is a piece of the race discussion going on now and opens up an opportunity for our children/teens of color to give voice to their experience and how they see themselves.

Artwork will be put into the following categories:

  • K-2nd Grade
  • 3rd-5th Grade
  • 6th-8th Grade
  • 9th-12th Grade

Each category of artwork will have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner.

  • 1st place: $150
  • 2nd place: $100
  • 3rd place: $75

There will be a panel of 5 judges made up of artists, government officials and business owners from around Botetourt County. Judging will take place at the Eagle Rock Library at 10am on Saturday, October 3rd. This will be a private viewing for the panel of judges. This is not open to the public.

The Art Showcase is anticipated to be held at several local restaurants during the month of October. Exact locations will be announced at a later date.
