December 16 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Free
event_GreatGravityEscape_12-16-21

To highlight the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), BoCo Libraries is hosting a “launch party.” In order to understand the magnitude of this project, it is important to understand the science behind how the telescope is going to get to its destination, how it is going to stay in the designated spot, and what it is supposed to do once it gets there.

After a short power-point presentation addressing the who, what, when, where, and whys of the JWST (provided by NASA), Miss Cari will lead participants on an exploration of gravitational pull with a demonstration on orbiting objects. Participants will then put this concept into action during the Great Gravity Escape STEM Experiment.

For ages 6-11.

Registration is required. Participants will receive an email with a link to the Zoom meeting on the morning of the event. Register here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScusy9c3zYP5BDpdDj3KNJk9FJkK6DounYEL3kDb_lCVBTUog/viewform?usp=sf_link
