Parks Closure

March 17, 2020

As a State of Emergency has been issued at the Federal, State, and Local levels, Botetourt County is continuing to take proactive steps to limit potential exposure to the Corona Virus.

In addition to suspending our athletic programs, we will also be closing our offices and parks as of today. These closures include the following:

  • BOCO Recreation Offices
  • Blue Ridge Park
  • Greenfield Park
  • Boxley Park
  • Buchanan Recreational Park at Buchanan Elementary School

Equipment and facilities at our parks, such as restrooms, will be unavailable until further notice.

In addition to Botetourt County Park closures, the Towns of Buchanan and Troutville will both be closing their Town Parks as well.

We will continue to be available to answer your questions through phone and email. And will be releasing information as decisions are made.

We encourage residents to continue to take reasonable precautions, such as good handwashing and avoiding unnecessary gatherings.

We are continuing to monitor the situation and will be releasing additional information as it becomes available.

We advise everyone to keep up with information on the situation by visiting the CDC and VDOH websites, and take the appropriate measures to reduce potential exposure. You can also stay updated with Botetourt County’s response at our new website Web.botetourtva.gov/covid19/.

Thank you for your understanding.
